Record from a CD (Analog Method)

Return to Introduction  Previous page  Next page

Normally you can use Expstudio Audio Editor's built-in ripping abilities to digitally extract CD audio for editing. See How to digitally extract audio from CDs. However, if you have an older CD-ROM drive that does not support digital extraction, or you are having problems ripping a track into Expstudio Audio Editor, then you can record the CD in real-time through your PC's sound card. Here's how:

1. Launch your favorite third-party CD player application (such as Windows Media Player).

2. In Expstudio Audio Editor's Edit View, choose File > New (Ctrl+N) to create a new, empty waveform.

3. Click Recording tab to set recording source, volume etc... see picture below

4. Click on the Record button rec

5. Start the desired track in your CD player.

6. When the recording is complete, click on the Stop button for both the Transport and CD Player controls.

7. Edit the recording (Normalize, Trim, etc.) as needed.
